England are capable of winning all three Twenty20 games against Australia in order to retain the women's Ashes, says captain Charlotte Edwards. 

The hosts are 8-2 down in the multi-format series after losing the one off test match and two out of the three one-day internationals.

But before the first match at Chelmsford, Edwards said: "We truly believe we can win these three games.

"If there's one form of the game that we can turn things around in it's T20."

Each T20 match is worth two points for a win, meaning England can still tie the series, which would keep the urn in their possession.

But Edwards warned that England, who have  called up spinners Danielle Hazell and Danielle Wyatt will need to improve to challenge reigning T20 world champions Australia, who are on a 16-match winning streak.

"We've got to play a lot better than we've played over the series so far," she said. "We need to just completely go out there and express ourselves.

"Every game we play for England we want to win. In effect it doesn't change our mindset."
Despite having a six-point cushion, Australia captain Meg Lanning said the Southern Stars would be aiming to finish the job in the first T20.

"I'm certainly glad that we're in the position that we are," she said.

"It just means that we need to come out as hard as we can in the first game and hopefully get the win in Chelmsford."
