Sound Advice Uk's August Acoustic Sunday

On the 4th August, St Peter's Church in De Beauvoir came to life for an afternoon of eclectic and diverse music courtesy of Sound Advice Uk. Sound Advice UK is a non hierarchial music and media project that has been running for over three years.

The first act of this incredible Sunday musical extravaganza was the amazing Essex songstress Alice Walker. She rocked the place by playing her brand of exciting dark pop with dark harmonies and captivating piano playing. Her songs are about many things that exist  in today's society such as love, daily life and death. It was great to have her play in a new venue again as she played in the amazing Vortex Jazz Bar way back in 2010. If you want to check out her music then check out the link below.

Alice Walker

Next  up was the amazing Tommy Antonio band. As soon as his band started playing the whole room fell silent so that everyone could experience the true class of the double bass Tommy and the rest of his impressive entourage of musicians. The band played a perfect brand of soft pop with various hints of folk. Most of the songs they performed are about journeys or places they have travelled too. One example is the song Grand Central Station which is about travelling around in New York and the incredible attractions that one comes across. Personally there has never been a room so silent as the crypt was during their set this just shows that the audience really wanted to embrace the incredible Tommy Antonio. Little Sister Blue were the third band of the day. They are a Bluegrass and folksy five piece from Kingston in South West London. They consisted of a guitarist, drummer, cello and a double bassThe whole room was attentive once again as they were presented with a distinctive stripped back Bluegrass and soft sweet  vocals from Sarah Macdonald who is there lead singer. Mostly their songs lyrics focus on relationships such as familial love, delicate and nourishing friendships. Everyone was particularly impressed by the sweet vocals and harmonies as well as the way all the instrument blended immaculately to create some real feel good music that one could dance to.   If you missed them then you should definitely check out the music below and keep up to date as they will be looking for gigs from September onwards no doubt.

Little Sister Blue

Don Kipper ended the Acoustic Sunday with their brand of gypsy folk. Strangely enough it is very hard to classify them as being  just one genre as they have hints of everything through out their set. They are primarily a Jazz gypsy band with hints of Eastern European folk and Balkan roots. They got everyone jiving in toe with the music. They are the perfect band to dance to on a hot balmy afternoon with lots of close friends around you.

They've played lots of major London venues and have recently played at Brainchild Festival which is small fesitval that promotes the best unsigned talent in the UK.
